Q: where can i buy a 1987 buick grand national for a really cheap price?
hi im 17 and i really like this car and i only have 1200$ saved but i can get 500 more.i want to buy this car to make it my first project car it doesn’t matter how the body is as long as it comes with the original engine.i live in florida btw.thanks for your time and please help me on this.
A: Even though the Buick turbo Regal Grand Nationals are getting close to 25 years old they remain a very strong collectible. Finding one cheap isn’t going to be easy. Even complete basket cases are going for $5000 or more. If you can’t afford to buy one, how on earth do you think you are going to afford to restore one. You could easily put $10,000 into this car and still not be done.
You may love these cars but as a first car you should look elsewhere for something a little more practical.
Q: what would be the insurance for 1987 buick grand national?
im getting my first car and im 17, also what about and 1986,87 regal or regal limited?
A: Not sure, but I do know that insurance on a car that is over 25 years old is a lot cheaper.
Q: Where can I get a 1987 Buick Grand National?
I’m looking for just a regular ole’ 87′ Buick Grand National in black…If you know where I can get one, please let me know!! Thanks!!
A: Umm, all 1987 Grand Nationals came in black. These cars are highly coveted and command higher-than-you-might-expect prices. A low-mileage example in good condition can be had for around $20kish. There’s no such thing as a “regular ole’” Grand National.
Q: How much is a stock 1987 Buick Grand National GNX worth in mint condition?
A: depends on the miles
the # on the dashboard
are you the original owner ?
do you have all the documentation?
its worth at least $50,000
check out ebay motors
Q: 1987 Buick Grand National …………?
How many motor options were there in the 1987 grand national? I thought it was only a 3.8 turbo motor.
A: Your correct just the 3.8S.F.I.Turbo motor.
Q: Anyone know where i can get a carbon fiber hood, trunk, doors, etc. for a 1987 Buick Grand National?
I’ve been looking for carbon fiber parts for some time now and still nothing. Any links or info would help. Thanks
A: try autobodyparts.com
Q: My dream car is a 1987 Buick Grand National. Just out of curiosity, what kind of gas mileage do they get?
I only ask since I know cars with turbo and superchargers get better gas mileage but I don’t know to what extent. This would not be a car I would be driving every day of the year. It would be a summer only car to keep it in the best condition possible (i.e. keep it away from salt on the streets to melt the snow, etc. during the winter months).
A: i dont know where you get your info, but superchargers and turbos increase power, therfore decrease gas mileage, if turbos and superchargers did increase gas mileage then everyone in the world would have like 7 turbos on their car to save gas
Q: what are some good horsepower upgrades for a 1987 Buick Grand National?
A: Typical upgrades include a more powerful turbo and more free flowing intercooler and exhaust. Do a yahoo search on “Grand National upgrades” There is a ton of info for these cars on the web.
Q: how much horsepower does a 1987 buick grand national have?
A: an 87 GNX had 276hp and 360 ft-lbs (stock)
and here’s everything you need to know about the grand national and the regal in general..

Q: Whats so special about a 1987 Buick Grand national?????????
My uncle passed away and my aunt has offered to give me the car as long as i keep it. She says my uncle worshipped the car. Im lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A: It is a limited production vehicle. The 1987 was the last year of the Grand National. It is a 3.8L Sequential Fuel Injected V6 with an intercooled Turbo-charger. The 87 was the highest output ( horsepower and torque) of the model run.
Retail value was about $30,000. Now it’s priceless.
Quite a collector vehicle.
I’ll hunt you down and do you in
if you sell it or destroy it. I’ll come back with your Uncle to haunt you the rest of your life. LOL, I envy you.
Not your daily driver but you will need to drive it or at least run it to keep the seals in good shape. If the owner’s manual is around you should read it. There might be special instructions for “cool down” of the turbocharger.
Q: 1987 buick grand national gnx v.s. 2009 charger srt8, which is faster 0-60?
I found out that a good Grand National that has under 100 000 km on is around 20 000(in ontario canada) now , any ideas how much the gnx would go for(in a descent condition, not looking for one that has 10 km on it and is going for 107 000 like on ebay)
A: The Buick Grand National GNX in 87 was the fastest car stock from the factory in 87 even today its times are incredable, and would still be faster than a new charger str 8. Should be able to get a good example for approx $9000 to $11000,those miles.
Q: my dad has a 1987 buick grand national, in our back yard……?
im 13, and im wondering if i should take up mechanics, and when i get older and know about cars, should i fix it, it been sitting there for a while … will it be worth it ??
A: Sure, it’s always good to learn new things. A 1987 Grand National is an incredible car, you should try to keep it is good shape. Learn basic on how an engine works and go from there. Ask your dad for help if you can.
Q: Buick Grand National (1987) How much?
How much do you think my Buick Grand National is worth? It has under 40,000 original miles and there are only a handful of minor dings and scratches? Its NOT the GNX type but just the 3.8 supercharged engine. Someone has offered 18,000, but I know with the amount they made that year that it could be worth more. What do you guys think?
Thanks
A: I’d have it appraised by a collector car pro and go from there. These cars are going up in value but like all collector cars, condition and history are the most important things.
Yahoo Answers is the wrong place to find an answer to your question. Find the GN web discussion forum and have your car appraised by someone who knows about the car.
Q: 1985-1987 Buick Grand National?
I was just wondering if this would be a good first car?
I am currently 15 getting a car at the end od the year
A: That’s a good car, but heed my words my friend, that car has punch. It was rated the fastest car on the road for those years. It even smoked corvettes. Assuming its in good running shape, you can wrap yourself around a tree real easy with that beast.
Q: Is there another car similar the Buick Regal Grand National?
I tried out the 1987 Buick Regal Grand National today and I was blown away! I absolutely love it. I love the fast 3.8L Turbocharged, inter-cooled engine. I was wondering if GM made anything else similar to the Grand National? Maybe they made a similar Chevy Monte Carlo or an Oldsmobile Cutlass?
Does anyone know? Thanks for your time.
A: The 1987 Buick Regal was a G platform. This was GM’s midsize RWD car from 1982 to 88. In addition to the Regal, there was also the Chevrolet El Camino, Malibu, Monte Carlo, GMC Caballero, Olds Cutlass, Pontiac Bonneville, Grand Prix, and Grand LeMans. The performance editions were the Monte Carlo SS, Olds 442, and various other alterations of the Regal, among others. I’d say that the Monte Carlo SS would be the most similar to the GN in looks. A Regal T-Type had the 3.8L Turbo as well. The other cars had more powerful V8’s. If you want more, type “GM G platform (RWD)” into Wikipedia.
