Q: Does anyone make a body/ground effect kit for a 1986 Buick grand national?
I’d like to find a body kit similar to the dub city car kit for a real car.
A: I would recommend against adding a ground kit. I have a ‘87 GN and can tell you that it is better to keep the factory look. You will always get respect keeping the body stock. You can trick it out with other options, but messing with the look will just cheapen it.
It will never look “Formula 1 Car” fast. Hello – no aerodynamics!! Strictly from an aesthetic standpoint, adding ground effects to an ‘86 GN is like putting a spoiler on a cinder block.
Q: 1986 Corvette vs. 1986 Buick Grand National?
Me and my buddy got a little argument going here my dad owns a 86′ grand national and his dad owns a 86′ Corvette (both stock very little changes). Now i cant seem to get him to realize the Grand National would destroy it in a race but hey maybe i’m wrong what do you think?
yea truth be told i knew for a fact it would but i thought hearing it from more people would make him shut up…corvette owners dont like to stomach that those turbo v6’s were smacking them around

A: you could try around your wreckers yards they might know where to get one from or try on EBAY price will depend on condition and how complete you need it plus then you have the labor to get it fitted and then it is your choice to go ahead with it or not but it should work out cheaper than buying a new car
Q: Buick Grand National Question?
I own a 1986 Buick Grand National. On its title, it is listed as a Buick GNA. We know that GN stands for Grand National, but what does the “A” stand for? We have confirmed that it is a true Grand national and its build codes match. Thanks in advance.
A: its the way in which some states title cars ie….i live in indiana have a pt cruiser …title says pt crr might be the same as your grand national g= grand na=national

A: Not sure, but I do know that insurance on a car that is over 25 years old is a lot cheaper.

hey guys I like old muscle cars that are stick shift. My favorite cars (at the moment is a 1986 monte carlo ss and a 1986 buick grand national. But all the ones I found are sutomatic. EVERY ONE?! Look I seriously cant afford one but I was just wondering how hard is it to switch a automatic (of one of the cars about) to a stick?
A: it’s a lot of custom fabrication work. The grand national and monte in 86 didn’t not come with a stick option so you would need to fabricate a clutch pedal and mount under the dash, clutch, shifter and shift linkage under the car and then find a manual trans that bolts up to the engine. You will also have to have a custom driveshaft made and new trans crossmember. It can be done but it’s going to be expensive!!!
